The American Football House is a historic 1893 home that gained fame as the backdrop for American Football’s debut album cover. This project aimed to preserve the house's rich ties to music culture while establishing a unique identity for its new role as a venue, creative retreat, and Airbnb listing. The design highlights the home’s storied past and iconic status while inviting fans and artists to connect and engage in a space that celebrates its legacy.
The stakeholders were working within a tight timeline of less than two weeks. Additionally, the house itself had no pre-existing brand identity—no established colors, fonts, or cohesive logo. While a small graphic existed for the logo, it needed refining. My challenge was to match the visual identity of the house with the numbers on the house itself, while also distinguishing it from the band's branding.
The goal was to create a visual identity for the house that felt closely tied to the American Football band’s brand but was distinct enough to stand on its own. Since the house was listed on Airbnb, we wanted to create assets like thank-you cards and other materials using the logo, colors, and fonts. The website was also designed to serve as a static information hub, with a page dedicated to local community resources, helping visitors explore the area and connecting the house with the local scene.
Working within Squarespace, I designed a simple, user-friendly site. I gathered photos from the Airbnb listing to create a moodboard, selecting a light and fresh color palette with accent colors based on the home’s interior. The typefaces I used were Poppins (sans serif) for a clean, modern feel, and Erode (serif) to reflect the timelessness of the house's address. The typeface choices created a link to the band, while the color scheme diverged slightly from the band's darker website, giving the house its own identity. Key design features included a Mailchimp embed in the footer and dropdowns on the Community page for ease of navigation.
